Gold Jewelry suits people of all ages and comes in a wide variety of designs. People can choose not only classic yellow gold jewelry but also romantic pink gold jewelry and luminous white gold jewelry nowadays. Over the last half a century, white gold has become much more popular than classic yellow gold and is in fact the most often chosen metal for engagement rings.

Pure Gold is a great hypoallergenic metal and has a natural metallic yellow color. It is too soft to wear everyday and make fine jewelry. In order to harden jewelry to make it more durable and to put your favorite gemstones into it safely, we have to mix other metals like Copper, Silver, Nickel and Zinc, etc.
18K White Gold contains 24K Gold (75%) and Palladium-Silver (25%) (or) Nickel-Copper-Zinc (25%). As there are 75% of 24K gold, the white color of 18K gold is still at Warm White color. It will not be White Metallic color like Silver.

Nickel and Zinc contains in Nickel-Copper-Zinc Alloy can have side effects such as allergy to wearer depending on individual's body reaction to such metals. Therefore most white gold jewelry are being plated with Rhodium for prevention to skin reaction and also for Silvery-White Metallic color which is also highly reflective.

Rhodium is a noble metal and a member of the platinum group. It is a silver-white metallic element that is highly reflective and resistant to corrosion. Rhodium is hypoallergenic as same as 24k Gold.

Rhodium plating or Rhodium coating - technically it's called electroplating that submerged your jewelry into a Rhodium plating solution and deposit the extra layer of protection on it. It will also make the metal more scratch resistant and, when used on silver jewelry, less prone to tarnishing.

In White Gold Jewelry, we made both colors in 18K White Gold Jewelry which are original warm white color and rhodium plated silvery-white metallic color. Some customers are willing to choose original warm white color jewelry. At the time, we have to check our body reaction while we are wearing them.

How do we know if we allergic? We must wear un-plated original white gold ring onto our finger in a few minute and see how will our body react. The body reacts differently to allergens, yet typical symptoms can include:
swelling.
a rash.
redness.
itching.
peeling.
dark spots.
blistering.
We shouldn't choose un-plated white gold jewelry if our body developed an allergy. At that point we recommend to the best way is to choose for rhodium plated white gold jewelry that save from an allergy.
We are happy to help you to understand the difference and choose the right one. Thank you for reading!
